Although Scorsese is a cinematic master, the story itself is more a narration than a narrative. There is no catharsis. DeNiro and DiCaprio 's characters have no redeeming qualities, only greed and stupidity and 3 1/2 hours of that gets tedious after 2. That being the sad, the cinematography acting and production value are all top notch.

David Chase said it in an interview, he made it because New Line Cinema wanted him to make it. Nothing new here. It's watchable if you're a Sopranos fan. A hand full of scenes meant to shock and some references to the series. I don't feel that David Chase had anything to say with this film, he just concocted a plot with some new characters. Michael Gandolfini is very watchable and should have been the lead.
