Although some similarities exist between other movies themes and Amy Schumer’s ‘I Feel Pretty’ movie, the topics of insecurity and superficial viewpoints were well addressed in this film. Do most of us drag ourselves down in various ways because we aren’t perfect enough? What is perfection? When we stop paying attention to our self-diagnosed flaws and start noticing each other’s wonderful qualities, we’re all better off and happier. The trick is to do that more than criticize ourselves to death. This film addressed a hard topic in a very relatable way to a wide audience. For me, it’s easier to mentally beat myself up & run away from life, even though I try not to be such a self-centered, self-pitying, egoist. That seems to be part of the message of this movie. Lighten up our self-hate and enjoy the ride. (Easier said than done, but there you have it.)
