Abrams, Kurtzman, and Orci plus the production crew and cast were on another plane of existence when producing this series. One of those rare convergences of talent from everyone that occurs infrequently, on par with Stargate SG1, Battlestar Galactica, Breaking Bad, and Star Trek. I'm going through the series again for the 6th or 7th time and enjoying it more than ever. Knowing the plot ahead of time, allows you to focus on those fine details in production and performance that made the series so unique and engrossing. Unlike a series such as X-Files, which had 4 monster of the week episodes, followed by one fitting the main plotline, such an approach is burdensome and boring after a couple of years. I think Ronald D. Moore said it best when writing the final episodes of BSG, "It's about the characters". Audiences appreciate the production quality, but they fall in love with the characters and the interactions between them.
