I’m not going to say this movie was 1 star just because all movies are flopping this year. It was very cute and colorful but it was a very cliche plot if you think about it. Plus, the fact that she FELT different (like a normal teen girl would) even tho she IS in fact like 100% different than everyone just didn’t make sense. no idea if that made any sense, it didn’t make any sense to me, maybe it was supposed to be a joke or satire or whatever. It’s pretty unfunny if it is though.
Also just throwing out there that now that animated movies are so colorful, it just makes seeing pretty colors in animations more boring now since everyone making them is trying so hard to be pretty and stuff. Like just because your film looks pretty and cute doesn’t mean it’s any good… you need to use colors that fit the story.
I feel like animators should take that advice.
Everything was also sooooo over exaggerated, and I don’t know when modern movie writers will ever get that movies were better when this never started to occur. It reminds me of how spongebob is pretty bad now because SpongeBob used to be good without them having to be over the top with the facial expressions and the way they act.
And I hate how I have to mention how they bring up this, but they were talking about social construct stuff about the prom, how is any kid supposed to get that??? I honestly don’t even know what it meant. I can’t even remember what they said because it was so specific and just kind of cringy. Why can’t kids movies just entertain without having hidden jokes and weird satire stuff kids won’t get??
Movie wasn’t terrible… but it wasn’t great. Shouldn’t flop too hard like some of the movies are rn. Probably a 5/10 on my scale.
In conclusion, this movies moral of the story was most likely that they need better writers.
