A fantastically relatable production for all ages, but particularly those who may be experiencing loss or loneliness in their lives… this film accentuates in BOLD the importance of finding purpose at all stages of life, and staying busy… as a distraction from the past maybe, but also as a tool to move forward.
The film very closely and accurately follows a stereotypical retirement home and its lifestyle, right down to its good AND bad traits… from gossip to cliques, and from compassion to violence… The production is a roller coaster that keeps you on the edge of your seat, begging for more at the end of each episode… and thanks to their relatively short length, the whole season can be binged in one afternoon…
The writing, screenplay and acting is fantastic despite moments with actors who are visibly “less skilled” than others, with some moments feeling emotionally detached with an actor not displaying or voicing the required emotions in a line or scene… (mainly speaking of the younger versus older actors)…
This series also exaggerates the presence of mobile phones, and technology taking over the lives of youth, which lingers as an undertone to parts of the story…
This production is filled with every emotion possible… happiness to sadness to tension and frustration to curiosity and angst… this series is PHENOMENAL, and an absolute MUST watch. I gave it a full five stars because of how purely emotional the ENTIRE series is, basically from start to finish with a few very minor exceptions.
