I enjoy some of the characters, (mostly Shane, Merle, Hershel, Eugene, Abraham, Bob Stookey, Beth in season 4&5, and the Governor) but they're about the only redeeming quality of the show. Some characters, like Morgan and Andrea for example, are so infuriating it makes me turn the TV off. Rick is extremely stupid, and an emotional decision-maker, which makes him an absolutely terrible leader. Negan and the Saviors are just tacky Mad Max raider gang rip-offs without the cool vehicles, it's sad. They might as well wear football shoulder pads and wear their hair in Mohawks. I half expected Lord Humongous to appear when Negan finally arrived. The Governor was a better villain. Hell, Owen and the Wolves were better villains. It would be more entertaining if the show was just Eugene and Abraham having lengthy dialogue exchanges in between occasional zombie killing action. (A Zombieland-esque film with those two would be hilarious.) The Walking Dead story itself is absolutely terrible. It's full of plot holes and non-sensical artificial tension. It starts going downhill in season 4 and absolutely nose-dives during season 6 and after. The characters are wildly inconsistent. Some of them seem to completely change personalities from season to season, or even episode to episode (Rick, Carl, Carol, Maggie, etc.) even though some seasons only last weeks, in-world. How Dwight keeps ambushing Daryl in woods boggles my mind. Daryl literally grew up hunting to survive, he should be better than 99% of other humans at bushcraft, especially Dwight. The zombies are the reanimated dead variety, yet are somehow super stealthy despite being extremely clumsy. They also put zombies in stupid places just to give the characters something to kill while scavenging. For example, why are there so many zombies inside cars? The show makes zero sense.
