There is only one Bruce Springsteen. They call him The Boss for good reason. Truthfully, I have just been sitting here trying to figure out what I can say, what words I can use to explain what that reason is. Maybe, he is The Boss because, as a musician, nobody can touch the power of his lyrics which are pure poetry. Nobody can put those lyrics to the incomparable music he backs them with. Then, there is the E Street Band, each musician powerful in their own area of expertise. There is also the woman who pulled Bruce out of the black hole of depression and self-doubt. That would be Patti, the goddess who never gets her fair share of the glory, but I think she is okay with that, as long as the love of her life is happy.
The Letter is so good it is almost shocking. Every song is a masterpiece. I couldn't believe it when I found out some of the songs were written before Bruce even had a record deal. Thank God he recorded them before it was too late. What a pity it would have been if they had been lost, laying around somewhere in a shadowy corner of The Boss's life.
If you have ever loved anything by Bruce, do yourself a favor and listen to the album. Go right now. There is no time to waste. Go, let his spirit be your guide. He will help get you through the horrors of 2021. God Bless you all.
