(Spoilers) Most of the people that gave this game a 1 wouldn't have even finished the game or maybe even bought it , some may have just skimmed the plot synopsis and decided they don't like it. One specific review I read was by Em Ah I think it was and it was quite a popular negative review on the review tab . There was quite a lot of things wrong with this so I'll just rattle them off .1 Joel was more trusting of abby because (as is shown later in the game) he has grown older, more trusting and less arrogant or standoffish.2 abby isnt transgender she's just got muscles.3 ellie isn't being selfish by being a lesbian (what?) and this decision wasn't pulled out of nowhere , it was clearly shown in the dlc for the original game. ( I also thought the way they portayed the relationship was very genuine and wasn't very social justice warriorey) I actually enjoyed abbys character by the end but I believe the way this game's story is actually the biggest problem with the entire game. The story is actually very good but the way it is shown is a massive problem, I propose that instead of the way naughty dog did it (12 hours of ellie and 12 hours of abby with a little bit of ellie at the end) they could have an option almost like a directors cut where you play each section of time (day 1 2 3 4 of seattle) as both ellie and abby before moving on to the next one as it would save some of the twists for later in the game and it would also solve the problem of pacing as well as showing abby as an actual character instead of just 'the one who killed joel' . But that's just my idea. I focused on the story because quite frankly everything else is just phenomenal (acting, lighting, sound design, the environment , level design, etc) with the only other thing I could comment on is that some of the dialogue could be seen as a little cringy but that depends on the person. I honestly hope some of the people who review bombed this game will come to their sense's because this is a game that deserves to be loved because it is a technical masterpiece and by far the most realistic looking game ever made.
