Great cast, great performances, looks amazing, but the story is shallow and the resolution of the mystery is lightweight. The twist is delivered with so much build-up and gravity, but really it's inconsequential. It's difficult to comment without spoilers, but suffice to say we're told that something will have a huge effect on something else, when in reality it wouldn't have any effect at all. It's one of those films that tries to convince you that you're seeing something deep, clever, and important, but it's all style over substance.
