Very rarely has there been a band…. Scratch that, an Artist. That has ever come out and regardless of how commercially successfully they may be. They shape the course of art for generations to come. To be studied and analyzed much into the future. An artist that regardless of your preferences you can’t help but be moved by them. Sleep token is that. I don’t wanna write an essay singing my praises for them. Sticking to just this album. In a word…. Powerful! In every sense of the world. It’s moving, entrancing, it’s diverse, it’s layered. It’s everything we have come to expect from sleep token yet they never fail to surprise. It delivers on all fronts and is perhaps the best of the 3 in the trilogy, but actually brings home the idea of a trilogy so beautifully. Themes, notes, chords, lyrics are repeated here in a way that shows how intentional sleep token have always been with their plan, wether it’s the characters, the mythology, the emotional resonance, it’s all intentional and very strategic. It’s not about appealing to any demographic but rather a fixed message that they are committed to conveying that transcends music, art and even spirituality. Bravo maestros, you have blown me away, never this quickly in just a span of a few years, this is officially perhaps my favourite band of all time!
