Great performance by all actors. Especially Saswata Chattopadhyay (as Bhanu Bandopadhyay) is just superb in every expression and dialogue delivery. Songs and scenes beautifully evoke the nostalgia of a by-gone era, The film has an interesting storyline and an arresting script. Combining the sci-fi element involving a time machine, a comedy with abundant doses of candid laughter, satire, irony and wit, a comment on society and human vices and a mystery to be unfolded, the movie overall is quite gripping. The audience thinks, laughs, enjoys, gets transported to the golden era of a king of Bengali comedy. The set for the other world and costume of apsaras et al could have been much more aesthetically done. The setting lacks fine taste. Else, a thoroughly enjoyable movie. A must-watch for admirers of Bhanu who is the real hero of this movie.

Buddhadeb Guha's beautiful creation has been brought alive in cinema, quite adhering to the novella sans its depth. The warmth, candidness, simplicity and yet the sensitivity, insecurities and uncertainties of characters and relationships amidst the shades, mysteries and unpredictibilty of nature, are enjoyable and sheer entertaining but fail to provide the food for thought that the writer's work does. If one loves Buddhadeb Guha or if s/he loves nature, adventures or even adores spontaneity, the movie is not going to disappoint too much. However, I would end by saying that lacking Buddhadeb Guha's depth, the movie captures the evocative part but not the inner essence of the book.

Performances of all actors are brilliant and no doubt the film is very stylishly executed. At many a moment the film touches the multi-dimensional brilliance of a Shakespearean tragedy through execution of cinematography, music and performance alike. However, it has more elements of theatre in it than of film as a medium, though indeed it is a film. Foul language has been sprinkled in the script more than was required.
