I really enjoyed this novel, which was a lovely gentle read. It was interesting that the characters and events were in ways informed by real people and stories of the occupation of the island during WWII. I would recommend this novel without question.

A Kate Mousse fan, I picked this up as a holiday read and it certainly was a compelling read, overall. However, I felt too much of the narrative was unnecessary as characters and plot details were introduced but not developed, or, at best, simply rushed over. I enjoyed it, but found that aspect disappointing as Mosse's plots and characterisation in other novels have been tighter.
