They should have had a technical advisor on this one. Uniforms were all messed up. The skipper was supposed to hold the rank of Commander but wore Lieutenant Commander shoulder boards. And he wore silver oak leaves (the rank of a Commander) on his collar! What a joke! Naval officers do not wear rank insignia on their dress whites. That's what the shoulder boards are for. And now for the ribbons, they were all a.f.u.! Ribbons were all out of order. A Navy Cross, which is the 2nd most senior award for valor next to the Medal of Honor, was at the tail end of the 11 ribbons on his uniform. What a joke! All the other ribbons were also out of order. And he was wearing black shoes in his dress whites while another officer standing next to him was properly wearing white shoes in his dress whites. Most of the officers were wearing Navy Good Conduct ribbons. Its very hard to believe that all of these officers were prior enlisted sailors. Every sailor's uniform in this stupid movie had all of their ribbons worn incorrectly. Ribbons are ranked by seniority and are required to be worn in the proper order. As a former Marine, I take pride in seeing that Navy and Marine Corps uniforms are correct in movies. "Heartbreak Ridge" by Clint Eastwood is a good example. All the uniforms in that movie were correct. Excellent job Mr. Eastwood! I just saw another mistake! The chief of the boat was explaining to two officers that he got his nickname from rocking out of flight school. Only officers go to flight school, enlisted men do not. Overall this movie rates very high on my suck-o-meter!
