Bartolomeo Veneto painted a famous controversial portrait of Lucrezia wearing white with one breast bared. Perhaps this was the inspiration for the white wedding gown. I would not be surprised. The portrait is "More Sinned Against than Sinning." The rest of the costuming is pretty much impeccable. Just look at art to verify it. Derek Jacobi stars in it, always a guarantee for a quality production. NB: some should study history before judging erroneously what they don't know.

If a show is going to pose as an historical drama, it should at least make SOME attempts at historical legitimacy. Eyeliner? Really? The scene of the maid's applying it made me laugh. And Mary's arrival at the French Court ... a Queen alone with no escort. THE SEQUINED PROM DRESSES! It's absurd.
