I am a huge fan of this genre of book/film/drama. I've enjoyed most of Le Carre's books and the original british series of both Smiley's People and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and I would rank NIF amongst these great shows. It is intelligent, well made and most of all, it is extremely well cast. I would recommend this to anyone (mandarin speaker or no). However, if you enjoy NIF, do check out the Disguiser as well. Spying has never been the same for me after watching these shows.
