I plan to return this book after reading one chapter. The author had a baby with Down syndrome and she details how prior to his diagnosis she had never even known someone with Down syndrome, thought of them as “retarded” and people who were “pudgy” and wore “Coke bottle glasses.” … It would be one thing if this book was set in the 80s or even in the 90s, but I can’t understand how someone could have possibly been this ignorant in 2008. After reading other reviews about her narcissism and lack of personal responsibility I’m glad I’m not about to waste time giving this a try.
