This is a Romcom tearjerker that normalizes antisemitism. It's like wrapping arsenic in a creampuff. You walk away feeling good but also nauseous because you're been fed lies about the Jewish people 'You People' for instance has the black father of the bride glorifying Louis Farrakhan, thereby normalizing a man so antisemitic that he calls Jews termites and a spawn of the devil. The movie also spreads lies about Jews and the slave trade without a rebuttal from the Jewish characters. The just trying to get along Jewish characters are attacked and then apologize for comparing the Holocaust to the suffering of Black people As far as I'm concerned, this movie is an insidious cultural Trojan horse that spreads lies about the Jewish people and normalizes antisemitism. It also is a slur on the intelligence of both black and white people as the black father is portrayed as mean, insensitive and ignorant of Jewish history and the white mother is a fawning idiot willing to agree to anything. This is a divisive movie that contributes to the growing tide of bigotry against the Jewish people. The all of a sudden let's all get along happy ending is again a way to make you walk away feeling good but the sour taste of antisemitism lingers.
