This movie for me is typical of a lot of the Marvel movies. Visually captivating, plot-driven story telling that really lacks in character development. It was rushed and forced. For me the most sympathetic character is Wanda. The audience isn’t given time nor reason to care about Strange’s new ward nor even Strange himself except for the reason we are supposed to. I wish this weren’t the case I think there is so much potential in America’s character but the movie doesn’t give the character space nor the audience time to really care about her. I hear she’s getting a TV show and I am glad the marvel TV shows have been so strong because they have better character-driven storytelling.
To me this was another example of Marvel movie fitting way too much into 2 hours. So many cameos and characters for the sake of the plot but we are expected to care about them immediately based solely on the expectation that the audience will recognize them rather than real character development.
