If you're not in the mood for a tale of unhealthy and dysfunctional relationship of Shakespearean proportions set in the back drop of post apocalyptic world, you won't like this film. I find however, no matter how unoriginal the plot and situations are, it is true to it's form of romantic tragedy. The jack in a box scares and wonderful use of delayed relieve of the "Reaper's" appearance builds your emotional state (which helps make up for the utter luck of back story) by the end. Leaving whatever has damaged them (or in jacks place given him a god/hamlet complex) to the imagination will, #1make you roll your eyes at not bad writing, but total lack of writing. Or #2 you will fill the void with things that you have experienced making you all the more invested in her struggles. I choose to look at it like the piece of art it is supposed to be. Which they are just short of out right saying look at this grotesque film until you see something beautiful.
