Reviewing for XBSX. Feels like it's in beta. New handling system is great. Qualifying for races and tire compound choice gives some variety.
Menus are very clunky. Some of the worst and most unintuitive in the series.
Let's say I want to leave a rivals or online race and upgrade and paint my car. I can go back to the main menu. I select design and paint, have to reselect my car then I can paint. Now I go back to the menu to upgrade. I have to reselect my car again. Now I can upgrade. Now back to the race I have to reselect the same car again. So to paint and upgrade and go back to a race I have to reselect the car 3 times? Why?
Why does my car not stay selected in the menu like every other FM game ever?
Build from the ground up but a LOT of recycled content. Even more Missing content. Why are so many tracks missing?
Graphics sometimes look great.
Sometimes they look like when a current gen game gets a last gen port. Very muddy, low LOD with bad pop in for hq textures, ray tracing that is distractingly blurry with a ton of ghosting and Screen Space reflections that come and go when the windshield wipers turn on in the rain.
If you are a fan of the forza series I would wait and see if they fix it. This game has so many visual issues and bugs along with the missing tracks and recycled cars, clunky menus. Also just a very grindy leveling system that needs to be tweaked desperately. I don't think it earns more than a 6 out of 10 in the state it's in.
They also never fixed the mirror vinyls in the editor not lining up correctly.
Could have used another 6 months or year in the oven. This is the cyberpunk 2077 of racing games. Let's see if turn10 can turn it around like CdProject red did.
