Study for Obedience by Sarah Bernstein. Closely written with so little joy I found unbearable. Especially for so young a writer. Honestly I could only dip in and out besides looking at the list of references. Now in my 91 y.ear and having read Woolf,Sontag and the rest I hope this writer will find that there are more things in life than the glorifing of a life devoid of all real fun,enjoyment and human contact. Death comes soon enough. Obedience is NOT what women need for the rest of the twenty first century. If I have not enjoyed this book while others praise it,put it down to a long and mostly joyful life. Anne Andrews
