I don’t think I’ve seen a movie address PTSD in such realistic way. I connected with this movie tremendously. I was about 4 months into learning to fly fish when the withdrawl from Afghanistan started, I was in a bad place, my son was on the Kabul airfield, my former interpreters were begging for help getting their families out. I was obsessing over the news, drinking too much, not paying attention to my family or work. I was lost, but I participated in a veteran fly fishing trip with Rivers of Recovery and I can say that I felt the peace described in the movie on the rivers. I’ve continued with this endeavor and it’s been far more beneficial than any amount of therapy or medication. Just like the movie, I’ve learned to be the mayfly. Thank you to the producers, cast and crew.
