I'm 59, and my 6th grade teacher read this to us. It just shows that the inner city kids don't have a chance. Now they didn't have all the firepower that the gangs have now, but the situations, and mentality are no different. The book was something we never experienced in my little town of Yakima, WA. It was almost hard to believe that people lived like this, but as I got older I understood more.
