A stunningly good film that had me gasping for breath throughout. Tom Cruise has delivered a truly iconic sequel which improves on the cult classic predecessor film. A fitting tribute to the original and one that continues the story in a way that pleases the fans and brings new fans in. The film can stand alone with enough exposition from the original.
Dogfights and cockpit viewpoints with real filmed aviation stunts brings the audience right into the sky and leaves you breathless and exhilarated. There is a very good balance of action and character development in this film, which is pacey and well timed throughout. A small number of humorous moments are tasteful and not overdone. Bruckheimer, Cruise and Zimmer combine with Lady Gaga to bring us an absolute treasure of a film and one which will go down as an iconic film of this generation I'm sure.
I can't do this film justice with my awful articulation, safe to say it left me dazed and speechless. I came out the cinema needing a thorough debrief of the film to process what I'd just seen. What a film.
