What the Health is a very interesting documentary in many ways. It is true that it forces one to think differently about one’s eating habits, particularly as it relates to meat and livestock consumption. Unfortunately, the entire documentary is unfairly tilted towards completely eliminating meat, eggs, chicken, pork and even fish from the diet (Yes, even fish). The problem is that even our healthier ancestors ate meats and fish. Even the Mediterranean diet, which many consider the gold standard, relies on regular consumption of fish.
Like many documentaries you find nowadays, this one focuses on representing mistruths as facts set in stone. I still cannot understand why they would claim that sugar is vindicated in Type 2 diabetes- like really? In documentaries, what you want to see is a balance- a neutral representation of both sides of reality . Unfortunately, What the Health is certainly not neutral and definitely not reality. However, I do admit that they do a good job highlighting the failure of most health organizations in preventing, not just protecting against, chronic illnesses. Overall, I would not recommend this to someone looking for reliable information on good nutrition.
