Gary Disher absolutely excellent crime fiction writer. Keeps reader glued to story. And concurrent in Australia present issues. Only whinge is police character Hirsch, what a nit whit puts other's lives on line several times. And blundering around bush when told to get help. Story has frds & local NSW cops almost useless. Pity maybe their not hopefully not a true reflection. Looking forward to next story.

Loved The Dry. Exiles, hmmm not sure. Hard slog through almost 1800s like diary entries. Minutae detailed conversations, too many actors to recall. Almost Midsummer Murders. Multiple crimes mostly dramatic & over the top. Romance was welcome break from endless drinking sessions. However shocking crimes are committed every day & sometimes resolved maybe decades later. Story was credible just too the long detailed journey to get there. J Harper can write for sure.
