Hello! There will be a few spoilers within this review! :)
I was unsure how to feel about this film because I wanted to like it. The premise alone caught my eye, it was something a little fresh from what I normally watched.
Though, upon watching the movie, I couldn't help but to notice a few errors or mistakes; specifically with the plot. I noticed a lot, but I'll list the biggest ones here:
-When the main character is laying on the floor, having her breakdown upon the bitter conversation she had with her sister about the email, Cindy comes to comfort her. As she agrees to a proposal of cake, she gets up, though slowly and she's a little ways away from the girl. Then, out of nowhere Cindy is hit and upon that she immediately thinks it was our protagonist. Why? She was away from Cindy, not to mention she would have seen her fist come at her. It felt so contrived and forced, just so our main character could be alone.
Side note: James immediately gets hostile, no questioning the situation- Just bam. Immediate aggression towards the main character.
-Moving ahead, the protagonist is in the attic, where she finds Adrian's phone. Here, she sees photographs of her and Cindy when they were sleeping that one night. It was genuinely terrifying, but she never takes the phone with her to show the police. Why? Why is this never brought up again?
-Finally, one of the most painful scenes ever. When the protagonist's sister dies. When the main character finds Adrian's suit, she invites her sister to a restaurant so she can explain the situation in safety due to it being a public place. Though, as they are talking, a knife hovers just beside the protagonist before it "flies" over to slit the sister's throat. Then- Just as that happened, the knife just— Flies into the main character's hand and she holds it?? Why was her hand open to begin with? Why did no one notice the situation only AFTER the main character is holding the knife? Shouldn't there be cameras in that restaurant? How did the sister die nearly instantly? A slit throat does not equal immediate death, even later on in the film— Adrian's throat is slit and he's still alive for a little longer.
...I apologize for this lengthy review. This movie was rather frustrating with its plot inconsistencies. Though, to give it the credit it deserves: Some shots were taken nicely, bits of dialogue were uncomfortable(In a good sense! Such as the one where the doctor explains that the protagonist was pregnant, that one left me a little surprised), and the portrayal of how disheveled our main character looked throughout the film was fantastic!
Again, apologies for the lengthy review, but I hope if anyone who is still bothering to read this enjoyed it!
