Slowest book ever. No matter what I couldn't get into it. I felt no emotion at the end as I never got attached to any of the main characters as there was not good enough character development. The authors writing style about drove me crazy. There were too many metaphors and repeated phrases. The main character said "Gat, my Gat". So many times it became annoying. As a middle aged woman I like to read a young adult novel every once in a while but this one did absolutely nothing for me.

This took place almost 40 years ago and people posting act like it's that way today? In googling and doing some research there are so many inaccurate details and misinformation in this series. I found myself shaking my head at the crazy Lafferty family. Remember this is is a fictionalized retelling of the real-life 1984 murders of Brenda and her daughter, Erica. In the description of the series note the word FICTIONALIZED.
