This autobiography was a Christmas present and it was Fab. Karma by Boy George is a great insight to the music and fashion scene of the 80s and beyond. It expanded my knowledge of not just Boy George, who I have always loved, but the whole music scene and beyond.
The book reveals many levels, it shows us his family life, tensions with other band members, how Boy George lived in the early days and makes references to other stars such as Leigh Bowery and comedy which I googled and found fascinating. The book discussed many things I had missed out on first time round, so that was really great.
What was very interesting was Boy George voicing his opinion on fashion, musicians and groups, which i did not know or have heard of, so it opened a whole new world to me, so thank you Boy George.
Boy George discusses other music and groups and enlightened me to other sounds which I googled and found informative. Perhaps that would be a great next book for Boy George referencing his favourite musicians, groups, fashion, art and make up. I would live to see it all from his slant and with his knowledge.
However I would have loved to have seen some of his artwork. Perhaps again another book...
