This movie portrays British hostility towards refugees and asylum seekers. That if they do anything wrong, it will result in detention and reporting them to their home country. How Britain welcomes "others" or "outsiders" is well portrayed in this movie. Also, it implies that women are less adaptive compared to men, that they are more superstitious and tend to cling to their old traditions and customs rather than fitting into the new society. Rial seems to be a clumsy woman who is unable to even finds an address; however, ironically in the end of the movie, she saves Bol and becomes the savior. Bol is eager to adapt to the society ASAP, but at the same time he cannot let himself go of the trauma he had been through. He was responsible for the death of Nyagak and part of his mind knows this and torments him, until his wife forgives and saves him. I highly recommend the movie, it is a must see.
