I started reading the books because of this series and 14 books later, I'm pretty sure that it is one of my favourite pieces of fiction. Season 1 was alright but then again I had only read The Eye of the World. I felt like the adaptations they've made were reasonable enough throughout both seasons 1 and 2 but oh boy, then I watched the season 2 finale. The minor inconsistencies I felt until that point were magnified, the 'cool' battle sequence felt just bland. I admit it was nice to see the seanchan getting their due in live-action but overall it was such a disappointment.
The epic conclusion of The Great Hunt book was barely there. Book Rand literally fought Ishamael (then pretending to be dark one himself) 1 on 1 in the sky while a hundred-something heroes of the horn fought Seanchan troops and damane who just wiped out white cloaks. before that we had the blade master dual between Turak and Rand and then the epic moment where Ingtar sacrifice and redemption. Sure they did it in the TV series as well but where is the bloody context? Nobody is going to care about that epic character moment.
Great Hunt was the actual moment when I started to love Wheel of Time. This adaptation just ruined it for me. Such as waste of opportunity.
