Going into this game, I was scared. Everyone who had seen the leaks thought the story was trash and I didn't want to be disappointed. But now, having completed the game, I can say that I am very satisfied and impressed. I thought it built on the first one very well and left a touching message that will stick with me for years to come, as I empathize very well with Ellie. Not to mention the gameplay was very addictive. I definitely think that it's worth a play through just to have the experience. I would go as far to say that it's one of the best stories I've ever experienced across all media.
