It's not what people would expect. More in line with the type of character Perry Mason was in the first couple of book. If you want a court procedural, this show is not that. If you want gripping drama and character development then this is a show you will enjoy.

This show is great. A deconstruction of the tropes of the genre, while still in essence staying true to the genre. Full of heart, humor and nostalgia while really examining the ramifications of what 80s pop culture movies represented and what the real consequences might be. It makes fun of the premise of the original Karate Kid while staying true to the intent of the original and recognizing its strengths as much as its flaws. Cobra Kai elevates the original material and honours the original at the same time. A must see for nostalgic fans and new comers alike.

What might be percieved as tonally inappropriate actually proves to be an insightful delve into the toles of vigilante post traumatic stress both physically and emotionally. Loaded with easter eggs for true DC fans but straight forward enough to be enjoyed by the casual super hero genre fan. Grounded in a more gritty nolan-esque world while still embracing the fantastical elements of the source material. Trying a little too hard to be dark and gritty but otherwise pretty entertaining.
