The feeling that I was left with in this unusual plot was how the thief’s idea of riches changed. When he finally escaped the prison of wealth and fame his idea of what was worth stealing had changed. For an unspecified amount of time he was surrounded by billions of dollars in paintings and real estate but because he could not get escape, it was a poverty stricken wasteland of zero value. We notice at the end, Nemo left behind all of the paintings he came to steal and ran to what he always had before and what had become his new reality of what wealth was : freedom. This plot takes work on the viewers part to fully experience. It is slow and painful yet hits me in my heart to take a look at what I truly value, is what I strive for in life really worth it? Another thought is this cell, this billion dollar pent house, actually a home? It is hard to get into and impossible to get out of with its concrete floors and impenetrable windows.
