I picked this book at a time when I needed a light read to fill my heart and mind during a heavy read like Half of a yellow Sun and I am glad I did. This is a story of two young, dreamy and passionate young lovers, Roya and Bahman, in a politically unstable Iran of 50’s. It is a chance circumstance which brings them together, however fate was not to be! Its a bittersweet story, offering varied emotions from love, care, anger, irritation to heartbreak. Is it the best in this genre? Don’t think so. However you can relate to the shocking violent political eruptions happening in the background with our present times. Also you may see glimpses of similarity / common beliefs between India and Iran and can’t help but wonder how two distinct and different countries miles apart still holds common beliefs. You may pick this up for simple, light hearted read. My rating 3.5⭐️

#Bookreview Rating 3.5 rounded off to 4 I could not complete this author’s “Palace of Illusions” due to reasons I don’t remember now 😀 so when I came across this I wanted to read this without any break/interruptions and this being a 200 odd pages was a quick read. This is a story about how nine people different in their lifestyle, beliefs and upbringing are thrown together to face a natural calamity and try to survive the ordeal by sharing One Amazing thing from their past to which they have been part of /party to and without realisation has changed course of their lives. Chitra Divakaruni’s prose is Lucid and flows smoothly. This is a light read taking us on an emotional journey through these stories. My rating 3.5 ⭐️
