The little Mermaid has always been one of my favourite Disney movies as I love not only the romance but also Ariel's yearning for something more in life than what she's used to so I went to see the live action film the other day with my son and partner and we loved it, it was very colourful and engaging the graphics for the underwater kingdom were stunning and the shipwrecks were very detailed and piqued curiosity when watching it, the acting was very well done and each actor played their role perfectly, Melissa McCarthy delivered a very dramatic and OTT portrayal of Ursula The Sea Witch which really did the original character of Ursula justice as the overall character is very dramatic & loud and over the top in how she behaves and her mannerisms so Melissa McCarthy was perfect for the role and I also loved that there was some much needed diversity to the cast as there was a mermaid or human that every one could see themselves in. The songs were catchy and beautifully adapted and the characters were adapted to the modern retelling very effectively with scuttle and Sebastian being funny and entertaining characters who added some much needed humour in between the emotionally charged moments, it was a very entertaining modern take on a classic Disney film and so far one of my favourite live action Disney movies and Halle Bailey played Ariel brilliantly and was born for this role, the vocals were beautiful, her acting was very intense and she had good chemistry with Eric even in the scenes where she didn't speak. I would definitely recommend that people watch this movie.
