Didn’t completely dread this film, but even then, 3/5 stars is a generous score.
This film has a brilliant cast, but it was unfortunately wasted on unlikeable characters.
Julia Roberts’ character in particular spends 2 hours complaining relentlessly about how evil society is, and even though she realises (on various occasions) that she has her own flaws, she never becomes any more likeable and continues blaming everyone else for her own problems - no character development whatsoever.
Like everybody else, I was also unsatisfied with the ending. The film was slow paced for a majority of it, but the rushed ending left viewers with far too many questions and not enough answers. A film’s ending is the most important part in my opinion, and the neglected ending of this film ruined it for me as a whole.
I did like a few things about this film. The whole idea that a sudden cyber attack might spark a civil war is indeed very frightening and the film conveyed that very well.
