This is legitimately one of the worst films I have ever seen. The plot is nonsensical, the characters are unlikeable, and the tone is confused. Most of the first part of the movie makes you feel like you're watching softcore porn. The score is arguably one of the most forgettable I have ever heard. The only well acted character is Lou Sr and even then his involvement in the plot is lackluster. It baffles me that this film is as well received as it seems to be. It plays like a pretentious art house film, but there isn't any artistic value here. There are attempts, such as the flashbacks being tinged red to denote that they are indeed flashbacks, but they have no impact on the story. The film treats it's audience like idiots, but then has us fill in the gaps to a nonsensical plot. I wouldn't recommend this film to anyone, if you want an enjoyable romantic crime movie go watch The Princess Bride.

Full of cliches, with little to add in terms of original story. In all honesty most people are probably only watching it to stare at Idris Elba.
