While I'm not a Barbie or Ken fan (never piqued my intellectual or creative interest, sorry), I can certainly appreciate the director's success in spinning a yarn - a very tenuous, dare I say even stereotypical yarn about an iconic and beloved toy, I was already growing bored and quickly lost interest in the pending battle to reclaim Barbieland between a "woke"Barbie and her human friends and the band of merry Ken's from Kendom. Relationships with our prized toys in this film remind me of Toy Story, yet I found myself not as drawn in with those in Barbie. Overall, the movie's art director and costume design are brilliant and some performances deserve stand out (weird Barbie, stereotypical Barbie, and Ken).
