I was really hoping to enjoy this. Unfortunately, the animation was probably the only thing worth watching in this adaption. Pretty disappointed with the characters, story, and jokes. Just fell flat in a lot of ways.
Maybe I’m too old (mid 30s) but I thought the pandering towards millennials with music choices and pop references (Hey Arnold) was fairly forced.
In general it seemed like Tweenage mutant ninja turtles not only in the voicing but the attitude and roles.
Again, animation was very cool and it’s great to hear Jackie Chan’s voice but I mean, I think I saw Paul Ruff’s character skateboarding more than the turtles which just doesn’t feel right.
Michelangelo was my favorite character growing up and this version made him small and completely underwhelming. Everything seemed super rushed, no character development and just left me feeling…bored.
Ugh, I seriously was hoping for…not necessarily so much more, but at least some heart that I could connect with.
