This is an absolutely stunning rendition of the Highsmith classic. After watching all episodes I found myself much preferring it over the 90s movie. The reason? The Netflix series gives itself so much more time to delve into each dark decision Ripley makes. We get to think with him. It’s just complicated and complex stories need space and time. Plus, the black and white style is like watching a film noir classic - also, it makes the violence “bearable”, if that makes sense? Watch it! It’s amazing!
