For quite awhile now I have been telling my friends that Tara Westover's book "EDUCATED" is the best book I have read in the last couple of years and all along, reading your book, I thought how similar your experience has been, how heroically both of you have beaten the odds and come out on top and how well both of you do the storytelling. Congratulations: you have created a masterpiece. It is hard to decide what is most compelling, the story or the storytelling.
I found it hard to keep realizing that what I was reading in your book was not fiction, but harsh reality. And I can hardly believe that you found the strength somewhere to get through all your childhood and adolescence trauma, maybe not unscathed, but certainly vindicated and victorious.
Much like Tara Westover, you never completely gave up on your parents and you stayed loyal and close to your siblings. I can't fathom from where you derived the moral strength to fault your parents for all their crimes, failures and neglect without ultimately cutting the cord and letting them fend for themselves.
The book deserves to become a literary and commercial success. Your story is so fascinating, scary and ultimately triumphant.
Thanks for writing and sharing it!
