Let me start by saying that I am a fan of the Outlander series. I have read the series through 3 times cover to cover and have re-read favorite passages several more times. I did a cover to cover re-read in anticipation of the release of "Bees". To date, my least favorite books in this series are The Fiery Cross and Go tell the bees that I have gone. My issue with The Fiery Cross is the deep dive into the minutiae of history. My issue with "Bees" is the deep dive into characters and everyday life. Diana's best books in the series balance these and interject a lot of suspense and action into the plot as well. I still thoroughly enjoy the characters and Diana's writing style...I was entertained. I did take almost a month to read the book, so it wasn't the page turner that most of the Outlander series have been. I did enjoy the book, but I was missing the excitement.
