I was not impressed. While I enjoyed Peele’s “Get Out” film, this one left me feeling disappointed. Where did the “shadows” or doppelgängers come from? Where did they get their scissors? They lived underground and ate rabbits, but then they suddenly decide to kill all of their human likenesses and build a “hands across America” link with (I assume) blood on their hands? Is that what we are to take from this film: that we (Americans) are not who we claim to be? That we are phony? That we’ll hold hands together across America but those same hands are bloodied? If I missed a lot, it is because I didn’t enjoy it enough and certainly not enough to see it again. I also could not get over the silly voices of “them” or “us” or the “shadows.” It was silly and a waste of my time, but Jordan Peele succeeded and got my money. I would have preferred to stay home to watch March Madness versus the insanity Peele’s mind produced this time.
