James Garner is very convincing in his role. There is no mistaking the depth of his emotions, especially the pain, at seeing the love of his life become a living dead person. That's the nature of Alzheimer's disease. All the other actors were splendid in capturing the emotional intensity of the various situations. I am amazed that The Notebook did not win any Oscars.
