Watched this for about 1 hour before picking up the mobile phone to check the news. I think emperor’s new clothes syndrome has kicked in for many who have given this high ratings. It’s an arty film with a slow uneventful story. Quite a few big stars presumably wanting credit for being in a film where half of the scenes have a symmetrical set. Completely pointless waste of time.

An enjoyable film nicely played by the young actors and MM. needed to fill a few a few gaps in the script to get 5 stars.

Absolutely terrible although I only lasted for about 30 minutes. The lead child’s acting is so bad that Clint looks like he’s about to burst into laughter. Plot not credible at all. Sorry Clint but movies such as The Mule and Gran Torino were so much better than this. My review is only based on what I could manage to watch.

Watched for about 45 minutes and gave up. In that time Diana only has dialogue with servants in the house and her two sons. There is a lot of annoying, grating violin music which seems to try to build tension. Diana displays a lot of strange behaviour but no explanation is given. Continuity is shocking as the film starts with Diana driving a G reg 911 but it turns into a J reg when she arrives at Sandringham! Perhaps all a bit too deep for me.

Disappointing and crude. Some good music and a few nice touches but you would think Eddie Murphy and a large budget could do much better with a credible storyline. Couldn’t understand a lot of dialogue and therefore many of the potential ‘laughs’.

My 10 year old daughter enjoyed the film giving it 4.5 stars but 2 adults did not. Hence 2 star review. The script is poor, lots of the acting is terrible and the musical numbers jump in with no real purpose. It felt like watching amateur dramatics at the local community centre at many points. None of the ‘magic’ is explained, the Ricky Martin doll was annoying even to my daughter, the bad guy not properly bad and the whole thing generally lame.

Generally an excellent film. Felt like it needed a little bit more build up and development of relationships but story moves along well with one or two slightly unconvincing escapes.

A watchable but not particularly scintillating film. Seems to be trying to be a Clint Eastwood, Tarantino and classic Western all at the same time but without the script, soundtrack and cast. More 2.5 than 3 stars.

A weak film which felt much of a let down. Much use of poor quality CGI for stunt scenes and even hand to hand fighting. Clive Owen and Will Smith can do much better than this. Another wasted couple of hours.

Another fairly pointless film that starts ok but ends poorly with no real explanations but also no hidden meaning for the viewer to work out. I’m continuously surprised why no-one seems to be able to write a great script these days. Watch if you have a couple of hours to spare and you’re not paying for the privilege of viewing.
