Jade Marie – Google

I was just looking for something new to watch and stumbled onto this with no preconceived expectations or knowledge of the director. I was sucked in by the storyline and captivated until the very end. It was visually stunning but also full of backstabbing fun, danger, revenge, tragedy, sacrifice and innocence. Everything you need for great storytelling. It may not be Shakespeare but that wasn't what I was looking for anyway and it was far more entertaining. I don't know how he would continue the story, but I hope he continues to collaborate with Netflix because this was a great bingeworthy show!

I just finished watching this and I am wondering WHY I haven't watched it before now?! Leonardo Dicaprio as always, is amazing, but I really loved watching Johnny in this. His portrayal of a young man who has too much responsibility on his shoulders, who cares for his mom and family the best that he can is just spot on. You feel his frustration, his love, his need to run. His love for his family keeps him there. His friendship with a girl who is temporarily stranded in his small town gives him a light at the end of the tunnel. The whole movie has an undercurrent of deep sadness buy you just can't turn away from the screen. Keep the kleenex handy if you're a sap like me.

I liked this book alot. It was easy to follow and towards the end you really couldn't put it down. There are times when you can just hear Dolly's voice while reading. I love the lyrics that are sprinkled throughout the book. You can almost feel Annielee's mind working on her lyrics like second nature. My only criticism is that not only did I want MORE, I wasn't clear on WHY Annielee chose to handle it herself instead of confiding in Ethan or Ruthanna. She was safe and they would have protected her from further harm. I feel like it was a missed opportunity for some character development. Also I wanted to know what happened to her sisters. I will admit I am curious to hear the album now. I would read it again.
