A truthful portrait of a troubled young woman.

I'm still only at episode five, but have been gripped so far by the tense story line. The acting from all participants is entirely convincing and commendable. Also I'm so impressed by the authenticity of the setting, especially the period when the ship was at sea, as well as the occupation of seal hunting and whale catching, which was a complete eye opener. This gruesome procedure was delicately photographed, nonetheless completely explanatory. In my opinion I'm watching a drama unfolding that has adhered so closely to the original novel that I'm actually reading it as well as watching it. Well done.

It's impossible not to take this swashbuckling fantastical movie with a pinch of salt, no spoiler intended. It had me guessing, and took me by surprise, as all fantasy action adventures should. I was fascinated by the premise of the frantic search for the Magellan Gold and the furious intrigue surrounding the puzzle. It's also hard not to compare it to the Indiana's, the romancings, and every other treasure hunt movies that have inspired video games since. Tom Holland, yet again, (and it's certainly his year) was engaging as the craft Nate Drake, drawn into the search by Solly, played by Mark Wahlberg; I can see this pairing being successful in future renditions. It also flicked through my mind that I could be watching the future James Bond, in Holland, but I hope he's not tempted to type cast himself at such a young age. A very enjoyable couple of hours. 4/5
