Though it's not without it's flaws, I find myself charmed by this adaption enough to hope for a new season.
With the notable highlight of Zuko and Zhao as the most standout performances and well written story arcs of the season, the added scenes and dialogue do well to build on an already beloved story.
Though I think Aang and Katara, partly due to their script, fall flat in some ways and seem like watered down versions of their animated counterpart, I can see their potential to grow in future seasons and hope that the writers and directors can absorb criticism from their audience and fix them in future scripts (seriously, Aang is not nearly childish and silly enough, and where's Katara's firey passion and bossy mothering personality that made her so likeable?)
Sokka manages to keep the spirit of his original character, whilst also clearly branching off into a distinctly new direction that fits this new iteration well. Although, I couldn't help but resent him at times, since it felt like the writers were neglecting Katara in the face of his character somewhat.
The heavy exposition that seems not to trust the audience to make any inference by themselves was also frustrating at times, and made what could otherwise have felt like a more grown up iteration of this show feel distinctly childish.
That being said, if I could look past it I still very much enjoyed many aspects, including the amazing CGI and character designs of all our beloved, favourite characters including Momo and Appa (and most notably Koh the face stealer! Wow, he was so cool!)
