Slow and dull. A real snoozer. Between the lifeless, miserable Effie Gray lacking any kind of anger or fight whatsoever and the stony, rigid John Ruskin who any woman would eagerly smother in his sleep, it’s like watching an hour and a half of two cars headed for a crash that never happens. Effie’s knight in shining armor, John Millais is as underwhelming as he is unhelpful. All he does is stare at Ruskin’s mistreatment of Effie and that is supposedly enough for Effie to fall in love—not that we’re sure she does unless we know their history.
I give this movie 5 Quaaludes 💊💊💊💊💊
